Q: When do products expire/what if there is no expiration date:
A: Generally, products have a little symbol on the back or bottom of the packaging that may have an image of a jar or bottle with the expiration date in months from the time of opening. If a product doesn’t have this, a rule of thumb is that mascara should not be used past the three month mark of opening and if you are wondering about certain cream or liquid makeup, it can be anywhere from 6-12 months. If it smells “off” or funky, toss it. Better safe than sorry!
Q: Favorite way to sort/organize products:
A: Acrylic organizers are my favorite way to sort and organize products at home. This way, I can readily see what I need. Zippered bags are how I organize my pro kit. This helps me see and grab exactly what I need on the fly.
Q: Best way to clean brushes:
A: Cleaning brushes can be such a hassle. I prefer to use a gentle soap (something like Dr. Bronner’s Castile soap- I like the citrus one), and a washcloth. I wet the brushes and add the soap to the washcloth. Then, I swirl the brush until it becomes clean and rinse. With my pro kit, I do this, and additionally, I sanitize my brushes with Cinema Secrets Brush Cleaner or a spray of 70% isopropyl alcohol.
Q: Favorite product(s):
A: Some of my favorite skincare products are gentle cleansers, a good moisturizer, Retinols, and most importantly sun protection, plus Makeup Forever Excessive Lash and L’Oréal Lash Paradise Mascara, under eye brighteners/concealers, and a good lipstick/balm.
Q: Favorite travel hacks:
A: De pot your foundation into smaller containers and find a great matte neutral palette where you can have options for a day and nighttime look. You can even use some of these for filling in brows and even a matte bronzer! Less is more when you are traveling!
Q: Best way to pack your makeup when traveling:
A: The best way, in my opinion, to pack your makeup while traveling is in your carryon bag; traveling light will be helpful here. Keep it in easily accessible pouch for touch ups, especially if you are on a long journey.
Q: Five must-have products for traveling:
A: SUNSCREEN, Tinted Moisturizer, Concealer, Mascara, Signature lip color/balm and a solid neutral palette that can cover eyes and cheek color
